About Dr. Angelo Farooq
Last week, we were delighted to host a special visitor at our Family Resource Center in San Bernardino. Dr. Angelo Farooq is appointed by the Governor as the Chairman of the California Workforce Development Board and has served on the board since 2013. He also is an entrepreneur and elected on the Board of Education for the Riverside Unified School District.
As our speaker, Dr. Farooq was so generous in answering audience questions and sharing his vision of the future of work in California.
The Future of Work: Challenges and Opportunities
Regarding the challenges in transitioning members of the community to take on new jobs in the tech sector:
“The key is apprenticeships… apprenticeships are accessible to people because they have practical value. If you’re learning something you want it to have a very practical value. Apprentices are a way for people to not just find a meaningful job with high quality of work and livable wages.”
