Frustration, Disappointment, Pain-all emotions that are drawn up every time we are forced to witness the unjust public execution of systematic oppression. In times like this it’s easy to be pulled into a cycle of despair and hopelessness, but today we reflect on the work of our mentors and guides who helped us form the mission of Sahaba Initiative.

Even in times of stress and discomfort they don’t waiver from battling the root causes of injustice in our community, the causes that lead to our current situation. On behalf of our black mentors who’s blood, sweat and tears played an integral role in developing Sahaba Initiative, we’re establishing the Black Excellence Fund.

The Black Excellence Fund is to honor those key black leaders in the form of Sadaqa Jariya. Many of them were imams, academics and community leaders at a time when there was very little resources and it was difficult to organize a new community.

Investment into this fund will go toward growing our mental health and health-care support, monetary support, and education to black communities
