Mental Health Services
At Sahaba Initiative, we specialize in providing accessible and affordable mental health services to our community. Our therapists offer expertise in working with challenges unique to the experiences of Muslim community members, providing culturally competent and humble care. We offer individual, couples and family therapy services and support groups.

We offer online and in-person therapy sessions with highly skilled therapists at a sliding scale depending on the clients’ current financial ability.

We offer various support groups throughout the year based on the recommendations of our clients. Support groups are offered online and in-person.

Therapy Services

At Sahaba Initiative, we offer therapy services that include individual, couples and family counseling with highly qualified mental health professionals. These services are available primarily online with some therapists being able to provide in-person sessions from our Family Resource Center in San Bernardino.

Accessing Mental Health Services

Our mental health program aims to provide accessible and affordable therapy services to community members seeking culturally responsive care. Mental health services through Sahaba Initiative are primarily intended for clients with limited income or an inability to cover the typical full cost of therapy services. To receive services, community members must complete the Therapy Services Application. As part of this form, please indicate which of our therapists, if any, you are interested in scheduling a consultation with. If you have been referred by one of our therapists for low-cost services, please indicate that in your application.

If you are eligible for low-cost mental health services, we will reach out to you with further instructions on scheduling your first consultation.
We can help you schedule a consultation with each of our other therapists until you find the right fit.

PLEASE NOTE: Therapist is unable to provide crisis services. Please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room in the event you are feeling unsafe or require immediate medical or psychiatric assistance.
Support Groups

We are currently in the process of building out our support group offerings which will be available in-person and online. Below, you can read about our upcoming support groups. If you are interested in participating in either group or finding out more information, please email our Program Director at rangeena@sahabainitiative.org to be added to our interest list and to receive updates on when the group will start.

Common Questions

Although our program is intended for providing low-cost therapy services, the majority of our therapists have their own private practice separate from Sahaba Initiative. If community members are interested in receiving services from them we are happy to connect you with them through their private practice. Please email rangeena@sahabainitiative.org for further assistance.

You will work with your chosen therapist to identify the number of sessions that might be best for you.

We work with you to determine a fee that is within their means.

During your consultation, you will have the opportunity to meet the therapist, ask questions, and learn more about what their approach to therapy looks like to see if they are a good fit for you. If you feel the therapist is a good fit, then we will discuss payment options and schedule your first appointment. If not, then you can meet with our other therapists for consults or receive referrals to other therapists in the community.

We offer free consultations with each of our therapists for any clients seeking services. Sometimes, the client and therapist feel there is a right fit from the initial consultation, or sometimes, clients meet with all of our therapists before deciding. We encourage you to do what is best for you.
